Jonah Hill, best known for his role in Superbad and last seen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall has been hard at work on the comedy script for The Adventurer’s Handbook. Universal acquired the rights with a seven-figure deal for the film which will star Hill, Jason Schwartzman, and is sure to include some fellow Judd Apatow alums.
The Adventurer’s Handbook will follow four friends who take on an unbelievable journey across the globe, based around the true life exploits of hardcore explorers in a book by Mick Confrey.
Hill co-wrote the script with Matt Spicer and Max Winkler (Son of “the Fonz” Henry Winkler). All three are set to executive produce. Akiva Schaffer, director of Hot Rod and several Saturday Night Live episodes is in line to direct the project.
Hill & Schwartzman who just wrapped on Judd Apatow’s Funny People, with Adam Sandler, have a packed year ahead. Hill will next be seen in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and is currently in production on Get Him To The Greek with Forgetting Sarah Marshall pals Jason Segel and Russell Brand. Schwartzman is making a move to TV with the HBO show Bored To Death, voicing a character for Wes Anderson’s animated flick The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and will next be seen in The Marc Pease Experience.
