Good or bad – casting is now underway for the upcoming Star Wars live-action TV series.

According to Lucas, the series will focus on minor characters from the universe and be set in between Revenge of the Sith (Episode III) & the original A New Hope (Episode IV). The story will follow the rise and development of the Rebel Alliance as it builds its resistance against the Empire. Stormtroopers will be present, but Jedi and Darth Vader are not expected to show in any episodes.

As was done with the Clone Wars series, Lucas will write and shoot an entire season worth of episodes before shopping cable channels to air his latest product. I personally hope he is only writing story ideas and not directing or writing dialog. Stick with what you’re good at Lucas…you’re an idea guy.

With casting just now kicking off, it will be quite some time before fans are presented with a prime-time ready presentation. After the numerous disappointments from the galaxy far, far away…may the force be with us.
