An “incomplete and early version” of X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been stolen and posted for digital download all over the web according to Twentieth Century Fox who is currently working with the FBI to investigate who exactly leaked the film.
“The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law; the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts in the past. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it”, said the official statement from Fox.
“Removing the pirated files from the Internet may prove an impossible challenge” an industry source said. Fox claims it was removed from the original website but the source continued with, “It’s not removed from the Internet, it’s still there.”
Twentieth Century Fox downplayed the quality of the pirated copy by repeating that it was not the final version.”It was without many effects, had missing and unedited scenes and temporary sound and music,” the studio said.
The latest X-Men film stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and is due for release May 1st 2009.
