  • Kyle Gallner moves to Elm Street

    By | April 9, 2009

Kyle Gallner who stars in the current horror release The Haunting In Connecticut, has signed on to be the teen male lead in the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Gallner will play a high-school DJ named Quentin who has a show called Insomnia Radio. He joins Jackie Earle Haley, who we reported earlier in the week will don the fedora and sweater as Freddy Krueger…which was just brilliant casting in my opinion.

Historically the A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise is not friendly to the male leads, as they don’t seem to last very long. Platinum Dunes other recent remake of Friday The 13th had a strong male lead that lasted so maybe Gallner will gain some screen time. And hey, maybe he’ll have his own Pirate movie series someday too since he’s following in the shadow of Wes Craven’s original A Nightmare On Elm Street male lead, Johnny Depp.

Samuel Bayer is directing the new rehash which is being produced by Andrew Form, Brad Fuller and Michael Bay of Platinum Dunes.

Kyle Gallner will next be seen in the upcoming Diablo Cody written horror/dark comedy Jennifer’s Body staring Megan Fox which releases September 18th 2009.
