Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch! is a wild female-driven action thriller set in the 1950’s that follows a girl who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather as he confines her to a mental institution. While there she starts to imagine alternative reality where she needs to steal five objects before she can escape the mental asylum.
The film has just lost two of it’s major cast members as Emma Stone and Evan Rachel Wood have dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Snyder has moved quickly to replace them with Jena Malone and Jamie Chung joining Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish and Emily Browning who will play the lead role. Malone will be playing the younger sister of Cornish’s character and Chung will play Amber.
Sucker Punch! will be Snyder’s first feature that isn’t based on a existing property or franchise. Snyder will direct and co-produce with his wife Deborah through their Cruel And Unusual Films Production banner. I personally can’t wait to see how this turns out.
