This holiday season Disney will bring the 19th film based on the Charles Dickens 1843 classic novella, A Christmas Carol. You read that correctly, 19 films have been made and that’s not counting the numerous television and radio broadcast adaptations that were also made. Just when you thought you’d seen and heard every angle of Ebenezer Scrooge there is, along comes Robert Zemeckis’ 3D take on the matter which will be produced through the process of performance capture, a technique Zemeckis has previously used in his films The Polar Express and Beowulf.
This time funny man Jim Carrey will don the bah-hum-buggery as Ebenezer Scrooge. Carrey will also be playing the three ghosts (past, present, yet to come) who visit Scrooge on Christmas night and bring the heart out of the crusty old codger. The supporting cast joining Carry include Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins, Robin Wright Penn, Fionnula Flanagan, and Daryl Sabara.
A Christmas Carol hits theaters in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D on November 6th 2009.
