Iron Man 2 began shooting a few weeks back and takes place six months after Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) announced to the world that he was Iron Man.
Twitter friendly Director Jon Favreau has provide the first image and had this to say about the film, “How many superheroes are open about their true identities? We wanted to play with that idea. But it obviously has consequences — in his relationships, on the team. There are a lot of areas we can explore.”
As far as locking down the details of the film Favreau says, “It’s never easy with summer movies, but we’re trying to keep as much a surprise as possible”.
Most everyone by now knows that Don Cheadle replaced Terrence Howard for the role of James Rhodes aka War Machinee, and that Mickey Rourke is Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson is Black Widow and Sam Rockwell will be Justin Hammer. Other than that info we don’t know where this adventurre will take us and how the crime-fighting team S.H.I.E.L.D. will ultimately come together.
Favreau added, “tackling the franchise a second time is easier because we know the landscape. I really enjoyed when we were a dark horse and no one knew much about us…I hope we can find that place again.”
Below is the first image to surface from the next instalment in the Iron Man series. The shot shows us a nice homage to the comics with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is his lab surrounded by the various evolutions of the Iron Man suit.
