WEEKEND BOX OFFICE | May 3rd 2009
By Dave Campbell | May 3, 2009

Let the summer box office begin!
Wolverine slashed his way to the #1 spot with an estimated $87 million for opening weekend. This is somewhat lower that the last franchise installment X-Men: The Last Stand, which made $102.8 million on it’s first weekend.
Matthew McConaughey saw his worst romantic comedy opening out of five films with Ghosts of Girlfriends Past trailing the previous Fools Gold, Failure to Launch, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and The Wedding Planner all averaged over $23 million. The remaining 8 of the top 10 were from ghosts of weekend past so just assume they all moved down, ok?
