Darren Aronofsky’s follow-up to the critically acclaimed and award winning film The Wrestler will be The Black Swan. Natalie Portman has signed on for one of the starring roles and shooting is being scheduled to begin in the next few months.
Aronofsky first developed the supernatural thriller back in 2007 at Universal who decided to drop the project from their slate. With the success of The Wrestler, Aronofsky’s bankable status has risen, giving him the ability to shop the studios who are all showing more interest in him and the project.
The Black Swan, original penned by John McLaughlin has been revised by Mark Heyman who also wrote the script for Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. The story involves a rivalry between two ballerinas as an important performance approaches – but one of the ballerinas is something different.
So as it stands now, fan boys of RoboCop will have to wait longer for Aronofsky’s redo of Officer Alex Murphy and his cybernetic transformation.
Would you buy that for a dollar?
