Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has only been released in theaters for a little over 32 hours, but it’s already breaking box-office records. The Tuesday midnight screenings in the brought in a solid $22.2 million dollars domestically, making it broken record #1 for a midnight opening.
This is a huge deal since that means it beat out the 2007 film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix‘s $12 million, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen‘s $16 million, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith‘s $17 Million, and the previous title holder, The Dark Knight‘s $18 million. Based on historicals and how films track, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince may end up with the biggest opening weekend ever.
Stay tuned to see what other spells Harry can put on the box-office.
