G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra won the top spot this weekend with over $100 million at the worldwide and $56.2 million in US box office results. G.I. Joe is now Paramount’s third hit franchise of the summer, following up the critically acclaimed Star Trek, and the mega successful Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, also from the studio.
The double biopic Julie & Julia came in second with $20.1m , G-Force held the three spot with $9.8 million, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince captured fourth place with $8.9 million.
Funny People dropped like a bad habit from last weeks 1 spot all the way to fifth place losing 65% of it’s audience and only scrapping up $7.9 million in its second week.
The other big news or lack there of, involes the vacation thriller A Perfect Getaway which came in at seventh place with only $5.8 million.
