From visionary director Steve McQueen, one of the most talked about films of 2011 comes home to stunning Blu-ray from Fox Searchlight and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. A film festival powerhouse, Shame has captivated viewers through its haunting depiction of the life of a sex addict and his emotionally troubled sister. Evocative performances from Golden Globe® nominee Michael Fassbender and Academy Award® nominee Carrie Mulligan make Shame the must-have release of the year.

    Director: Steve McQueen

Definitely Shame. His performance was a tour-de-force, and the Oscars screwed up big time by not nominating him.

‘A Dangerous Method’ is what I’ve liked him best in so far.

I’m a super big Cronenberg fan so I’d have to say A Dangerous Method.  I like your site, and especially your logo, btw!

He was amazing as Lt. Archie Hicox in Inglourious Basterds.

I liked him in “A Dangerous Method.”  I have always been interested in psychology/psychiatry and the history of it so I really enjoyed this film and his portrayal of Carl Jung.

If I can count a miniseries – Band of Brothers, if it has to be film – Inglorious Basterds

      INGLORIOUS BASTERDS

    • Cvrea74

I haven’t seen him in Hunger or Shame yet so for now, I really liked him in 300.

    • Charlie

“Fish Tank” features what I feel to be his most subtle performance, perfecting the sleazy charisma mixed with genuine pity that would later serve him well in “Shame.”

    • Jeremy

      I think INGLORIOUS BASTERDS!

    • matt

      Inglorious Basterds

      Inglorious Basterds

Definitely Hunger. His performance is absolutely wonderful. The priest scene is so memorable.

    • ThisGuy01

I’d actually have to go with SHAME.  Before I saw this movie I would have said Inglorious Basterds, no doubt, because the 1/2 hour scene in the La Louisiane is perfect.   But in Shame, Fassbender is so emotionally versatile and effective I was really taken back- and I was ALREADY a big fan!   His being shunned at the Oscars was another clear sign of why that “Award Ceremony” is out of touch with real art.

…. Though I gotta say I have a thing for androids so his PROMETHEUS performance could take the top spot this summer!

    • Dir_by_ade

I really enjoyed his performance in SHAME, his one take scene in HUNGER was beyond grand but what has to take the cake is his ERIK aka MAGNETO in XMEN First Class, it was pure fun but he just rocketed his performance and the look in his eyes with the coin… The Beer sequence was perfect as he melded well with the CGI and not since 300 had he done something on par.

      Inglorious Basterds

      Inglorious Basterds!
