If someone gushing about Christopher Nolan isn’t your thing, skip everything below and just watch the trailer. Have a nice day.
Still with us? Good. When it comes to big budget movies, there’s Christopher Nolan and there’s everyone else. The guy is working on a whole different level. In a summer in which I’ve seen the second Captain America movie (third if you count The Avengers), the umpteenth (albeit awesome) Godzilla movie, the fifth Spider-man movie, and countless other reboots and remakes, this trailer is like a breath of fresh air. Christopher Nolan seems to be going big with a completely original story idea that tackles the vastness of space itself while telling a very personal story of a guy and his family. There are some directors, you just hear that they’re working on a new project and your ticket is instantly purchased, sight unseen. After his Dark Knight movies, The Prestige, Memento, and Inception (my vote for the best, most original summer blockbuster of the past 5 years), Christopher Nolan has entered that pantheon of great directors whose name sells the ticket.
Interstellar opens November 7th.
