Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. and the Wachowskis are delaying the release of Jupiter Ascending from July 18th of this year to February 6th of 2015.
Usually a delay is a signal that things aren’t right with a movie and that the studio has lost confidence in it, but everyone maintains that this delay is due to the Wachowskis needing more time to finish the editing and effects work for this completely ambitious and original material.
2015 is going to be a bumper crop movie year with little films such as Star Wars: Episode VII, Avengers 2, Terminator Genesis, Jurassic World, and Ant-Man taking up valuable real estate. Jupiter Ascending is an unknown property and I hope that the early start gives the movie a chance to find an audience.
