First up is the trailer for Foxcatcher, starring Channing Tatum as famed Olympic wrestler Mark Philip Schultz, Mark Ruffalo as his brother Dave Schultz, and Steve Carell as his maniacal wrestling coach John Eleuthere du Pont. Foxcatcher is already getting great reviews, both for director Bennett Miller (Capote and Moneyball), and for stars Channing Tatum and Steve Carell. Both Steve Carell and Channing Tatum are known more for their comedic and offbeat movies, so it will be interesting seeing them tackle subject matter as intense as this looks.
Foxcatcher has a nice awards season friendly November 14th, 2014 release date and is produced Sony Pictures Classics and Columbia Pictures.
Austin based Drafthouse Films recently acquired the rights to distribute The Tribe, an interesting movie from the Ukraine in which all of the characters speak in sign-language sans subtitles and voice over narration. The movie promises quite an experience. You don’t need any explanation from me, the trailer says it all.
The Tribe doesn’t have a release date yet, though I’d imagine it will probably be out later in the Fall or Winter of 2014. TBD. The Tribe is directed by Miroslav Slaboshpitsky.
