Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you yet another movie where Johnny Depp does Johnny Depp things. The movie looks funny and seems to have a good energy to it, however the first thing that came to mind when I saw this was the irrelevant comedies of Mike Myers and how this seems like the type of movie he would have made towards the end of his run. This seems more like a parody of a film, instead of an actual film. I also thought of late era Peter Sellers, when his comedic chops clearly weren’t what they once were. I hope I’m wrong, because if this is done well, it could be a whole ton of fun.
Mortdecai is directed by David Koepp, stars Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Goldblum, Ewan McGregor, and Paul Bettany. It’s set for release in February 2015.
