I can tell already that Antoine Fuqua’s The Equalizer isn’t for everyone. There seems to be very little middle ground for these Liam Neeson Taken style thrillers where dudes (always dudes, usually older) come in, drop righteous dialogue, and then proceed to kick all kinds of ass to rescue some kidnapped girl (always a girl, usually younger) from gangsters (always gangsters, usually Eastern European). You either like these movies or you don’t. For me, this clip completely works and I’m super pumped for this. I’ve already stated for the record that if I’m ever kidnapped, please call Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson to come get me out. Maybe the next Expendables movie can ditch the 80s action movie stars and instead give us a movie where Liam Neeson, Denzel Washington, and Min-sik Choi (Oldboy) team up to save kidnapped children all over the world. Tell me that movie wouldn’t make a billion dollars of box office.
Enough from me, enjoy the awesomeness for yourself.
The Equalizer is produced by Sony Pictures, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), and stars Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz and is set for wide release on September 26th.
