  • Don’s Favorite Documentaries of 2014

    Best of 2014

    By | December 31, 2014

I found myself hopelessly stranded in Austin from February thru June of 2014 having lost a significant majority of my hearing (due to a relentless sinus infection) and unable to travel. As a result, I missed the 2014 True/False, SXSW and Tribeca Film Festivals, thus severely hindering my documentary film viewing for the year. So, for the last two months, I found myself binge-watching “For Your Consideration” screeners, quickly discovering that 2014 was yet another incredibly strong year for non-fiction filmmaking. It was quite a daunting task to whittle my favorites down to a mere 15 films, but I am fairly comfortable with the resulting list. All 15 films on this list are totally incomparable and therefore un-rankable, so I opted for an alphabetical listing.

(Note: This list only includes documentaries that were theatrically released in the United States in 2014.)
